About Me – Your Child’s Home-from-Home Care

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and the care I provide.

I have completed all the required courses for registration with CEYS and continue to attend various professional development courses throughout the year (outside of working hours where possible) to stay up to date with best practices in childcare.

In addition to core qualifications, I have also completed:

Makaton Level 1

Introduction to Forest School

MAYBO (Positive Behaviour Support)

Certified Outdoor Mental Health Practitioner

Supporting Children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities in the Outdoors

I am one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) for JACC, and I keep all relevant certifications up to date. Certificates are available to view on request.

Currently, I am working towards becoming a Curiosity Approach Accredited Setting and completing a course in Therapeutic Skills for Outdoor Leaders.

Beyond my childminding work, I also serve on the board of Happy Heroes – Children with Additional Needs Charity, where I am the Designated Safeguarding Lead. I volunteer at weekend play sessions and events. I also offer support to the families the charity works with when needed.

About Our Home and Daily Life

I live with my husband Mark, a Computer Engineer. We are just a few minutes’ walk from Samares Manor and La Mare Beach. Our home is warm, friendly, and secure, with a smoke- and pet-free environment.

I offer a nurturing home from home childcare experience, where your child is supported, encouraged, and celebrated every step of the way.

I love baking and regularly involve the children in making delicious treats to enjoy or take home. Cooking is another passion of mine, and I enjoy following recipes from What Mummy Makes, making snack and lunch times healthy, fun, and engaging.

Learning Through Play and Exploration

I tailor all home based and outing activities to suit your child’s interests and developmental needs. You’ll receive regular updates throughout the day via WhatsApp, including photos and messages, so you can see your child’s progress and share in their experiences.

We enjoy regular outings to a wide range of locations including: Jersey Zoo, Local beaches and parks, Samares Manor, St Peter’s Valley, Heritage sites, Library visits, Railway Walk & Le Hocq Meadow. Our shared childminder allotment, as well as attending a Childminder run weekly playgroup & meeting up with other childminders, offering children valuable opportunities to socialise and make friends.

At home, we enjoy:

Baking, Water play, Free play, Loose parts play, Garden fun, Arts and crafts, Storytime, Seasonal and themed activities

Building Connections

Over the years, I’ve built strong, lasting relationships with families. Many parents and children stay in touch, and we love welcoming them back for outings or catch-ups. The friendships the children form are truly special, and it’s lovely to see them grow together.

I have references available from both past and present parents, and many are happy to speak with prospective families to share their experiences.
